Long time no blog!

Well!! Its been a while, hasn't it?
I know I have a couple of new followers, so thank you!!
I am officially married, have been for almost two months now (wow!). I can officially say I have the coolest husband ever! Lets see what else happened... well I got cast in a show that will be taking place in February, so I'm excited about that!

Aric and I have moved into our apartment and everything is almost in the final spots, so I figured I'd give you a tour!

The view from our balcony! So pretty!

Our living room/dining room and christmas tree!

Kitchen!

Mini-hallway

So yeah! The bathroom isn't overly exciting, so I decided to skip that...
But there's our apartment! Its so cute, I love it!

Also!!
I have purple hair now! See?
Please ignore my random chubby cheek on the left side of this picture. I had an infection in my salivary glands and my face puffed up really bad. :'( Sad kitty... but its back to normal now! Yay!

I guess thats it for now!

I'll post wedding photos soon!

Of chais and birthday photos

So I'm sitting here drinking the saddest chai ever and I feel the need to post a blog.
Why is this the saddest chai?? Well I went to starbucks this morning before class with my birthday-giftcard in hand and ordered a nonfat chai... I didnt drink it until I got to school and turns out its just all steamed milk, no chai. But I want something warm to drink so I'm still drinking it... but I think I'm just going to throw it out. Yeah. That sounds like a good plan, its not worth the calories...

Basically this is just going to be a photo-dump of my birthday weekend.

We went to the Blue Talon Bistro for my birthday lunch with Aric's family! Yum! If you're ever in Williamsburg, VA I highly suggest eating there. Its my all time favorite place to eat! Yay French food.

Chocolates! We always go to this candy store. Aric got licorice (I'm not a fan...), and I got dark chocolate blueberry clusters. Yummy!

Pretty pretty buildings.

A didgeridoo! I love those!

Me and the always-dreamy Thomas Jefferson. My neck is doing something weird, but I like this picture anyway.

Pretty sky on my birthday morning!

Carrabbas with my family drinking a sangria! It was super tasty. Blackberries and oranges. Yummy!

Aric and I looking thug. What's new?

Okay, well I'll post again later probably with pictures of my bridal shower this weekend!
What are you guys doing this weekend?

Birthday, Autumn, and Weddings, Oh My!

Good morning world!
Well, its been a while. I feel like all my blog posts start out like that... ugh.
I kinda fail at this whole keeping on a schedule thing.

Its getting to be fall, which makes me super happy. It makes me want to go make candied apples and wear  rust and purple like nonstop. The weather is still kinda icky in the upper 80s and pretty humid. Ick ick ick! Its kinda a bummer since my closet is filling up with all these pretty autumny/wintery clothes and I try to wear them and then am constantly over heated. Not fun... I don't do shorts or tank tops and I try to even avoid bare legs or t-shirts whenever possible, so hot weather isn't my fave, if you couldn't tell.

Yesterday I turned 21! I had a lot of fun. I went out to dinner with my mom, her bff (who is basically my aunt!), her 11 year old son, and Aric. We went to Carabbas which is like one of my favorite place ever. I'm trying to go carb-less, but... I started drinking the blackberry sangria I ordered (Oh yum!!!! blackberries + oranges + red wine = yes.)  but I hadn't eaten much all day so I didn't feel very good, so I had a little bread. And then soup. And then a salad. It was a wonderful dinner! We brought cupcakes along so I had one of those because.... well... it was my birthday. So back on the carb-less horse today!

I got lots of fun presents from everyone! Aric got me wine, hello kitty jammies, and a GIANT bell jar! (I'm obsessed with bell jars...)
Mommy and Dad got me what felt like a billion things, two amazing dresses (I'm going to wear one for the rehearsal dinner!), and two super pretty pairs of boots! I was so excited. Starting... in about a week and a half I ONLY wear boots until mid-spring. They're my favorite! I'll share some pictures later!

This month is SO busy for us. Gosh... This past weekend was my birthday, this coming weekend is my bridal shower, the weekend after that Mom and I are going apple picking (!!!), the weekend after that is my bachelorette party, and then the weekend after that is the wedding! The wedding totally crept up on me. I can't believe its here already! In 26 days I'm going to be married! Woah!

Now I'm going to leave you for something cute!

We started letting Abby out on the deck because... well... her little legs are too short for her to jump over the fence, so we're safe! She loves the outside. Its become a ritual. We get up and take her outside early every morning and drink our coffee on the porch swing with her. Its kinda my favorite!

Face of the day//I have the coolest friends.

Seriously, I do have the coolest friends. I feel like I always go on adventures when I'm with them! Mostly because I do.

Yesterday I went with my friend Ashley to go take some photos and adventure around. We ended up at this.. well... I don't really know what it was, but its by a railroad and is pretty darn cool. Here's some of my favorite photos of the day!

FACE OF THE DAY!

So today I woke up seriously wanting to be like the person version of Hello Kitty and here's what happened!

Eyeshadow:
Polyester Bride-Urban Decay
All others: Icing eyeshadow pallet

Lipstick:
Red liner with revlon light icy pink over top.

Now off to teach my childrens and draw some more!

Theatre camp is over, and thus begins Animation camp.

Its kinda scary because we're almost halfway through the first of two weeks of camp which means that the three next big things in my life after this is over is approaching verrrrry quickly. Those being 1) school starting back up (taking two animation classes this semester!! yes!!), 2) Birthday weekend/moving Aric into the apartment, 3)Wedding!!

Woaaaah. Married soon.
But yeah yay Animation camp! It just means I have a lot of time to draw! Case and point, yesterday's finished project:

Mermaid!!

Anyway... that's all for now. Enjoy some art haha.

I am SO tired right now its a little stupid.
I'm not much of a "stay-out-late" person... mostly because I wake up at 5:45am so the last few nights have been rough since I've been staying out with friends/coworkers after we get out of rehearsals at 10:00pm. I've been getting home at like 12 or later. Sooo darn tired.

I colored my hair on tuesday, its a super bright red and I'm kinda loving it. I put orange highlights in the front, but since its the same darkness as the rest of the red you can basically only tell its a different color, not that they're highlights. People keep asking me about it and saying they like it though, so thats a good sign, right?

Before:
sad naturalish weird red-brown

annnd after:
fun! (see the random orange chunks?)

Also that ghastly tan I had has officially gone away. YES. Good thing I didn't buy new makeup...

Also I've realized that I get married pretty darn soon. Something like 3 months and 2 days. Thats practically right around the corner. School starts in a month and a half and after that the days will fly by. Weird!!! Aric moves into our new apartment my birthday weekend, so that's only like two months away too. Straaaange!

I think thats it for now!
Bye kitties!!!

Happy 4th of July!

I sit writing this in the theatre watching rehearsals of Seussical the Musical Jr. (the camp production this year) and listening to an insane storm outside. Yikes. Poor people wanting to watch fireworks.... hopefully it'll clear up in a bit! Our rehearsal goes until 10pm tonight so... no fireworks for us! Oh well. At least I'm with lots of people I like! Always a plus!!

We did looooots of shopping for the house this weekend. We got a love seat and a AWESOME coffee table. I've never been the hugest coffee table fan, but oh my gosh I'm in love. Its an antique industrial cart used in factories the early 1900s, I don't have a picture of it on my computer and I don't have the cable for my camera, BUT its the same exact table as one at Restoration Hardware (for $700 more than we payed, mind you.) so... yeah I can show you their pro photo of it!

Super cute, right??? Love it! Its heavy as an elephant but... whatever. Who really gives a darn.

I've noticed I've become super un-clothes-shoppy lately, I think mostly because a) its summer and b) i hate summer clothes. Because of this I've decided to put some money away to get a new wardrobe for fall. I've been eyeing some pretty things and I've decided its more important for me to pay better money and have good quality stuff than to shop allllll the timeeeee.

Alsoooo, I got a new pinkage wig, its long and black and amazing. In love. I'll post pictures of it soon for sure.

What did you do this weekend??

C.A.M.P. week 1//Furniture shopping

So last week was week one of camp.
It was super fun, I love all my kids. I'm going to miss them in two weeks when this is over....
Buuuuut then I have two weeks of animation camp to take my mind off it.
I seriously never thought I would be teaching, much less teaching children. Weird.
I have to say the time kinda flies by since I have camp all day and then come home and have like 3 hours before I go to bed. Its strange.

MOVING ON!!
Aric and I got some furniture this weekend~
We got a mattress which I'll spare you pictures of because... well.... its a mattress. But yeah that was exciting. We also got a bed frame because as of right now we're going to do one of those just a box spring, mattress, and frame but with cool art as a headboard thingies. (Which I'm excited about!) So once we get that figured out I'll share pictures. We do already have our bedspread though, its white with ruffles I think its the "Shabby Chic" brand, we're going to pile the bed with black and grey (and maybe some red) pillows. I love pillows...

We also got a dining room table! This is super exciting because its going to be serving as dining room table/desk since we have a two bedroom and need a studio space more than a living room/dining room. Yay! We got it at world marked (my fave!) for like... $189 because it normally has leafs to extend it but it didnt have them. Like we care... haha the table is kinda farmhouse-y which is exciting. I'm not entirely sure what our style is going to be. Kinda like rustic goth. Or... something like that.

I can't find it online or I would share a picture. I'll take a picture once its like set up. Its a nice antique wood with like strange "x" shaped base. I loooove it. Now we just need chairs.... hum.

What did you do this weekend lovelies? Off to get ready for camp!

Nose rings, kitty cats, and wedding plans.

Well hello kittens!

I want you to know that just now I wrote "wello". Obviously I need more coffee. (Worry not for I am consuming my body weight in coffee as we speak. Or... as I write and you read. Whatever.)

I'm not really sure why I haven't blogged in so long, I've been sitting here with nothing but time to do stuff like that and I haven't done it. (Lame.) Maybe because I haven't done much of adventuring to speak of lately.

As for the exciting things, I changed my nose jewelry (that sounds so gross. ew.), so now instead of a stud I am wearing a hoop! This is kinda a big deal because I've only worn a hoop one other time, and by one other time I mean for like 7 hours because... well... i panicked when it wouldn't go in and just kinda shoved it in and it started bleeding/hurting and I put my stud back in. But I managed to avoid all of that and I am now looooooving my hoop!! I'm seriously considering getting a little gold hoop instead of a diamond-y stud for the wedding.... hmmm.... what do you think?

In other exciting news I made my cat a facebook page. Yes. I did. Like an account, not a fan page. I mean who couldn't love this fluffly little face?? She needed to be shared with the interwebs.
So sweeeeet. Oh my gosh I love her.

Moving on! Wedding plans are going well! I can't believe its almost here! I think its super going to hit me once we're into August which is just going to happen all of a sudden because of my camp schedule. Weeeeeird. But good weird. We're getting everything nailed down right now, which is so fun and exciting! Oh! And we have an apartment!! Its so cute. He moves in on September 10th, and I'll move in after the wedding.

Oh! You know what I totally lied about not adventuring.... but.... I'll write about that in another post! Which... I might write right now.

Bye bye kittens!!

Sunsets and orangey floof.

A few days I got a chance to spend some time with one of my favorite people,
Ashley Fielden, owner of A Global Walk Photography (that link will send you to her blog, which is TOTALLY worth seeing!!). If you're a long time reader you might remember her from that one time when we broke into an elementary school. If not go check it out, it was pretty cool.

This is my second time seeing her since she got back from her epic 7 month (i think!) multi-country trip! So what did we do? Snagged some chik-fil-a, sat in starbucks talking about all things art, music, and love, and then went on a mini tasty-sunlight-induced-photojaunt! My fave!

Mmmm!! Soup and passion tea for me!

Prettiest girl ever. Juuust saying.

I stole this one from Ashley, she definitely took it, not me, but... orangey floof! Yay!

Today's day consist of an early morning coffee date with the lovely Tianna, a meeting about summer camp (I'm teaching! I don't remember if I said that before or not...), step aerobics (always. I'm obsessed.), laundry, and hopefully going to the poetry/open mic night.

Project goldfish hair + Beach night

Soooo, I'm back from the grave.
I've officially gotten the worst of the wisdom teeth adventure over with, and I'm up and at it again. Yay!

Last night Aric took me to Mccormick and Schmick for their "happy hour" (fish tacos for $3.50 say whaaat?) which I was mostly able to eat. I was a happy camper. I'm a California-born girl, fish tacos = love. After our little date we drove down to the beach but... we ended up getting chased out by a HUGE lightning storm about 30 minutes after we got out of the car, which was parked on the roof of the parking garage waaay away from the elevator. Scary...

So on to the photodump!

 foggy oceany glory.
 king neptune himself.
 more yummy foggy night.
 mr.cute-face.
early 80s cover band. i was sad i knew all the songs >.<

On to the goldfish hair!!

Okay sooo I did something new today, I went into Sally's and bought hair color and developer and did it myself without a box and it turned out awesome!! Yay I'm proud of myself! (I know, not a big deal but I've been too afraid I would screw it up to try until now.)

So this recent wave of everyone in the world having pretty cool toned red hair has made me sad because.. that was my trademark for yearssss so I've switched to bright orangeish!

Before:
Boring faded natural brown red (can you tell I had given up?)

After!!
Pretty goldfish hair!! (Its waaay brighter than this in person...)

But yay I love it! Thats about it for now!

How are you lovelies??
Bye for now pumpkins!

In which I discover I'm allergic to codeine.

Yes folks, true story.
I, Ash, am allergic to codeine.
How did I find this out?

Well after a day of being on the junk to distract my body from the fact that I now had 4 missing teeth I found myself "praying to the porcelain gods". Not a fan. Not at all. So after a "well... maybe it was something I ate" and repeating the process after taking it again I switched to Advil. TMI? Perhaps but... too bad. I'm currently very sad I'm on Advil because a) its not making me tired and... I want to go to sleep and b) it doesn't relieve the pain quite as well, so not only does my mouth hurt, but now it itches from the stitches. Ick ick ick.

Ah well! On the bright side I have most definitely caught up on my sleep, I've watched quite a bit of HGTV, the only bruises I've managed to accumulate in the past 72 hours have been on my face from the surgery (I think that's a record, by the way), and I'm pretty sure I've lost 5lbs.

I'm going to attempt to venture out in public tomorrow with mom to go get some applesauce, but... we'll see. One side of my face is very swollen so it'll depend on how much my cabin fever outweighs my vanity. Maybe if I wear big sunglasses no one will notice... hmm... something to think about.

Once I'm not totally embarrassed about my giant chipmunk cheeks because the swelling has gone down I'll post a picture of them, but for now have a picture of Abby and I from easter. ( I don't THINK I posted this yet, but if I have... sorry!!)

Strawberries and surgery

Whew! Oh hey look I exist again!
Bye Bye Birdy is OVER folks. Praise the Lord. No, but for real, I'm so grateful to be sleeping on my normal schedule again. School is out (I forget if I mentioned that or not...) which means my life has consisted of cleaning, seeing the fiance as much as possible, hanging out with my mom, working out, and vegging out. Its been great.

This past sunday was fun, we were out of strawberries at the house (OH THE HORROR!!) so Mommy sent Aric and I out to pick strawberries!

So much fun!

There were a lot of people there! Sadly including the rudest family I've ever encountered! The kids were brats and the dad nearly mowed me over as I tried to get out of his way when he wanted to leave. Lame. At least they were only there for the beginning of our adventure!

Yummy!

My outfit was SUPER lame, so I'll spare you a full body shot and just give you the details.
I wore: my fave black cardigan from cha cha vente, a grey v-neck f21 tshirt, skinny jeans rolled up into capris, and possibly my least favorite pair of flats. I wasn't going for cute, I was going for comfy haha. BUT, visible in this picture is my new fave necklace, a black acrylic cross (I'm like obsessed with cross jewelry right now). Its so unshiny its amazing. I call it my anti-bling.

Oh! Right, so the surgery mentioned... I get my wisdom teeth out in the morning. Boo. :( I'm very non-excited about that one there. Meds make me super out of it, so I'm just hoping I'm so out of it I don't notice the pain. We're going to go with that one. At least I have Mommy, Aric, and my Tron DVD to keep me company and make me feel better! Maybe I'll post during my out of it stage haha that would be interesting.

Anyway!!! Wish me luck!!

Love you kittens!!!

Celebrate good times, come on.

Please excuse the title. I know it sucks, but I couldn't think of anything else.

I sit here writing to you with a cup of hot coffee and a flannel shirt on. Its 51ºF right now, which is just bizarre for this time of year where I live. (I'm not complaining though, bring on the cold weather!)

Last night Aric and I went out to celebrate college being officially over for him! Yay! We had every intention of just eating our whole meal at Empire, a tapas place in downtown, but.... we ended up restaurant hopping, which was waaay fun. I didn't get any picture of the first place because we were going to come back later to get him some Absinthe, but... we got tired. :/ Ah well... at Empire we got potstickers, bread with the butter of the day which was some super yummy garlic/brown sugar mixture, and chicken satay with saffron rice and peanut sauce. Sounds like a lot of food, I know, but... it wasn't. At all. But oh man it was yummy!! They had pumpkin sopapillas for dessert which I now regret not getting. Ah well, c'est la vie.

For our main course we walked over to a local burritio place and got nachos! Yummmm! This is one of our favorite places ever, you can pick what you want on it like a lot of places now a days, but what makes them awesome is the fact that you can get saffron rice and that all their veggies are raw and crunchy! Just how I like them. Oh and their salsa is like "I want to die" hot, which is my fave.

Yum yum yum!!

We fully intended on getting dessert but... we were stuffed, so we went and got coffee at a local coffee place, Bean There Cafe. By far one of my favorite places on earth. This is the site of the infamous poetry night we used to go to. Darn you schedules... :'(

Aric got the "Downtowner" which is like... a hazelnut and toffeenut latte, he always gets half the amount of pumps though, which I totally approve of. I always forget to do that too. I got a nonfat (of course) "Little Red Corvette" which is... mocha and raspberry and something else I think. I forget.

As we all know, I like to wear black. I've kinda gotten complacent with it though because of how everyone around me at school dresses (Light the lighter/brighter stuff at F21. Which for the record, I LOVE, but.. its just not me.) , but... I'm remedying that. I think summer will do me good.
The shirt is a cute little puff sleeve thing I found at T.J. Maxx for like $7, the sweater is Cha Cha Vente found at Stein Mart on sale for all of $15. I'm addicted to this sweater, seriously. I wear it all the time, poor thing hangs out with the washer a lot. The skirt is from Express, also found on sale for... $12!!! Legging from Forever 21 and boots from Charlotte Russe for $25. Rosary is from a trip my Dad and Step Mom took to Italy a couple of years back.

I've become obsessed with 90s goth outfits, so I'm sure you'll be seeing lots and lots of cross jewelry and all black from me in the future. I had minty clip ins which I've totally fallen in love with. They were my mom's blonde ones, but I died them and chopped them off. I'm like obsessed. It kinda makes me wish my hair was bleached so I could have a full head of mermaid hair.

I know you can't tell in the picture, but I'm not short and oddly shaped, I'm in fact freakishly tall in heels... which... I had on. Strange how angles do that to a girl.

looove this guy!

xoxoxo,
Ash.
