Stress eating.

Lets talk about stress-eating.
I used to be a huuuuge stress eater, but I've really gotten out of the habit, now I'm more of a stress-non-eater, but last night, I'm not going to lie, I wanted some comfort food.

Mmmmmmmm boca burger and veggie pasta kraft mac-n-cheese with a peanut butter frozen mocha from my favorite coffee shop in the world, Cafe Moka. For those of you who don't know the joys of Moka.... I'm so sorry. I realize I probably could have done much, much worse on my stress-eating, but... whatever. I still feel like I did something bad haha but not as bad as normal!!

Yesterday was a long, stressful day.
I woke up at 5:30am to see that I had a text from my dad that my mom was in the hospital. She had been throwing up for days, but we all thought it was just a stomach virus, but thankfully she decided to go to the e.r. late that night because it turns out it was kidney infections. Yikes! After phone calls, a shower, a little makeup, and a pit stop to grab a few things from her house and give one of the cats some medicine, I was at the hospital by 7, grabbed a muffin and a chai latte from their coffee place, and hung out with her  there until 2:30, when I had to leave to go to the one class that I couldn't miss. After class they discharged her, so I picked her up and took her back home. She's feeling a lot better thankfully, but they're not sure what caused it yet, but we should know in the next few days. Whew!

In other news, combat class is kicking my butt. But I love it. So much fun! We've learned all sorts of different punches, falls, a forward roll, and a dive roll. I love it! I think forward rolls and dive rolls are my favorite things so far. People are calling me a ninja, it makes me happy.

Guess that's it for now!

How is your week going kittens?

Meet Tsouki!

Tsouki is the new addition to the Arends family! He is our first "on our own" kitty! He's a GIANT 7 month old snuggle bug. He likes to follow us around (read- be glued to us constantly. aka as I write this he has moved from my lap to the couch not more than two feet behind me.) and he's super sweet with a teensy mischievous streak!

I know you're probably wondering about his name. Its funny how it worked out, we had a friend over last night and she was asking about his name and didn't know how we spelled it and asked if we named him that because Tsuki (minus the "o") is the Japanese word for moon and we adopted him on the Lunar New Year. Actually, we didn't, but I like how that worked out! Yay coincidences! We actually named him after Giorgio Tsoukalos from the History Channel show "Ancient Aliens"(aka our favorite tv show). So technically Tsouki's full name is Tsoukalos, but... I think Tsouki sounds so much cuter!

Tsouki is super friendly and super curious. Its fun to watch him explore his new home. I think he's just so excited to be out of the creepy sound-proof cage we found him in at the animal shelter and that makes everything seem like a palace.

Last night we had a few friends over for Chinese New Year, we made Asian food and ate Hello Panda (my fave), and fruit gellies. And talked about Asian things. And Tsouki. He had fun meeting new friends and getting petted!

I suppose that's it for now...today is my long day at school. I have one class and then work from 10:30-5. So... I don't really have that much to say about it thats exciting haha. Today is contemporary trends class, which is fun because we really get to examine our aesthetics. Its a lot of fun!

Well, bye for now!!

Here we go!

Hey guys! As usual I've been slacking on blogging.

See, my problem is, (yes I've diagnosed myself.) I keep wanting to post things, but I feel like if I don't have photos to accompany my posts then its worthless. Which is kind of ridiculous if you ask me, but its just the way it is. SO in saying that, maybe I should just take more photos.

Last time I wrote a post my hair was purple, now it is back to the red-side of things because I'm getting my formal bridal portraits. Only, in order to do this I had to bleach the purple out and my hair became this cotton candy pink/blonde which... I sort of love a lot. So its staying this way for a while.

(not going to lie, my hair color makes me feel like a sailor scout. life's dream: accomplished.)

I've officially started my final semester of undergrad. For those of you who don't know much about me, I am pursuing a B.A. in Theatre. This semester has started out to be my favorite: Contemporary Trends in Theatre (love it!!), Directing, Voice and Diction, Mask Making (in love.), and Stage Combat (also in love.). I have a gen ed too but that's not worth mentioning.... ick. Its really weird to be almost done with school after all these years, to be planning for our senior showcase and knowing that a portion of my friends will be moving to NY or LA to pursue their acting careers and that I won't really get to see them anymore. Its a little bit of a bummer, but... I mean its life. We've all got to move on, right?

My Christmas and New Years were fun! We spent NewYears in D.C., one of my favorite cities. It was a blast. Aric and I went with my parents and we basically spent the time walking around, and we even did some touristy stuff (a.k.a. looking at monuments and such). It was so much fun oh gosh. New Years Eve itself we spent in the hotel lobby playing spades for hours. It was so much fun! I kind of love low-key New Years. Its fun to just watch people all dressed up and freezing their bums off going to parties while you're drinking tea in your slippers and sweaters playing cards.

Here, enjoy some photos from New Years! (see, I'm posting because I have photos to share. Oy.)

I heart D.C.!

They planted the flowers to match my hair. Obviously.

Chinatownnnnn!

Mommy/Daughter!!

Le handsome husband.

The cappuccino angel. Hahha I picked on him so bad about this photo.
He had just ordered a cappuccino and was drinking it and I took a photo and thought he looked like a little cherub hahaha

New Years Day.

Today is a pretty big day for me! Its Chinese New Year, so we're having a few fellow lovers of Asia over for dinner, I have a full day of classes and rehearsals annnnnd (are you ready??) Aric and I adopted a kitty!! He had to be microchipped and given his rabies shots this morning so we couldn't take him home last night, but I get to go pick him up on my lunch break!!! I'm so excited!! He's such a sweet little boy! I'll have a post dedicated to Tsouki soon!!

Love and kittens,
